INDUSTRIAL CORROSION PROTECTION

PP IMPELLERS

Manufactured by Plastic Fabricators

Performance of any centrifugal blower starts with the quality of its impeller. Well-designed impeller ensures proper airflow, pressure, energy efficiency, low vibrations, and reliability of the ventilation system. Plastic Fabricators produces injection moulded Polypropylene (PP) Impellers made of virgin polypropylene and intended for industrial ventilation and corrosive process ventilation systems. They are highly resistant to mechanical impacts, light in weight, and highly resistant to corrosive gases that are used in chemical processes.

Unlike fabricated impellers composed of several elements, our impellers are produced as single pieces which ensure greater accuracy and stability of rotation. All impellers are statically and dynamically balanced in order to minimise vibrations, reduce the wear of bearings, and provide smooth and constant operation. To make assembly more protected, PP ring is attached to the blade tips, while PP cap covers metallic hub and prevents corrosive gases from reaching metallic elements. Hub bore is machined based on customer’s shaft specifications. PP impellers are available in diameters of 8", 10", 12.5", 15", 17", 21", and 24".

TECHNICAL DATA

WHAT IS A PP IMPELLER?

An impeller made from PP (Polypropylene) is an essential element that performs a function of moving the air within centrifugal blowers, exhaust systems and industrial ventilation.

The process of movement of air by the impeller occurs due to specially designed blades which accelerate the air movement from the center to the outer radius of the impeller.

Efficiency of this process depends on the blade design, balancing, rotation accuracy and material properties.

Polypropylene has been chosen for manufacturing impellers as it is resistant to corrosion, lightweight and strong. Such properties make it appropriate for use in places where the presence of corrosive gases, acid fumes, alkali vapors and humidified process air would cause the quick degradation of metal impellers.

Plastic Fabricators produces PP impellers manufactured using the method of injection molding and optimized for the maximum air flow.

Why Industries Choose PP Impellers

🧪
Manufactured from Virgin Polypropylene Every impeller is made from virgin polypropylene to ensure the quality of materials, mechanical strength and resistance to different types of industrial chemicals. Virgin PP possesses such qualities as high mechanical strength, low moisture absorption, high resistance to corrosion, lightweight design, and increased durability.
⚙️
One-Piece Injection Moulded Construction In contrast to fabricated impellers consisting of multiple welded parts, our impellers consist of one piece of moulded plastic. This provides better dimensional accuracy, uniform blade design, optimal airflow, higher strength, decreased imbalance during rotation, and improved repeatability between batches.
🎯
Static & Dynamic Balancing Every impeller is statically and dynamically balanced. Balancing helps reduce vibrations, improve airflow uniformity, extend bearing life, reduce shaft load, and allow smooth operation. This is especially important for continuous operation industrial ventilation systems.
🛡️
Protection Against Corrosive Fumes To reduce exposure of metal parts to aggressive corrosive vapours, a polypropylene ring is welded to the blade tips and a polypropylene cover is mounted to the hub. This design provides additional protection for the metal hub, extending service life in chemical plants.
🔩
Manufactured to Customer Shaft Requirements Every industrial blower has individual shaft dimensions. The inner hub diameter may be machined according to the shaft dimension, allowing usage in both new installations and replacement applications.
📏
Available in Multiple Standard Sizes Plastic Fabricators manufactures PP impellers in standard diameters of 8", 10", 12.5", 15", 17", 21", and 24". Selection of the correct impeller depends on the required airflow, rotation speed (RPM), static pressure, and blower design.
COMPLETE PRODUCT RANGE

OUR PP IMPELLERS

An impeller is the core part of a centrifugal blower. Although motors give rotational energy, it is an impeller that plays a role in determining the efficiency of how air gets sucked in, gets accelerated and released into the system.

Plastic Fabricators make one-piece injection-moulded Polypropylene (PP) Impellers that are made in a way that enables smooth air flow, robust mechanical behavior and long-term performance. Each impeller is constructed from virgin polypropylene material and designed in such a way as to achieve accurate dimensions in corrosive industrial environments. Each impeller is statically and dynamically balanced to reduce vibration.

One-Piece Injection Moulded Construction

While fabricated impellers consist of multiple parts that have been welded together, the PP impellers used in our range are made from one piece of molded plastic. These advantages include: Uniformity of blade design Higher precision in dimensions Better balancing due to rotation Airflow characteristics consistency Greater strength of construction The absence of blade welds also helps with better operational performance.

Manufactured from Virgin Polypropylene

All impellers are moulded from virgin polypropylene in order to ensure high-quality material and performance consistency. Properties of virgin PP include: Corrosion resistance Mechanical strength Lightweight Moisture resistance Long lifespan Such properties allow polypropylene to be used for the manufacture of ventilation equipment designed to handle corrosive process gases.

Static & Dynamic Balancing

Correct balancing is one of the main factors which affect impellers' performance. Each impeller is: Static balanced Dynamic balanced It provides the following benefits: Vibration minimisation Reduction of bearing wear Increased lifespan of the shaft Stability of airflow Smoother blower operation Balanced impellers help to avoid losses of energy due to vibration when using the blowers in continuous industrial conditions.

PP Ring on Blade Tips

Special polypropylene ring is welded to blade tips. It serves several purposes: Increases rigidity of blades Helps to keep blades aligned Increases overall structural stability Protects blades' edge parts from damage Ring also helps to protect metallic parts from corrosive fumes.

Protective PP Hub Cap

Hub is covered with special polypropylene cap. It reduces direct exposure of the hub to corrosive fumes which can be present in chemical exhaust systems. Benefits include: Higher corrosion resistance Increased durability Lifespan extension Lower maintenance needs

Custom Hub Bore Machining

Different blower manufacturers have different shaft diameters. To facilitate installation, the hub bore is machined according to the customer's shaft specifications. It allows the impeller to be used for: New blower manufacture Replacement impellers OEM equipment Retrofit applications

ORDERING REFERENCE

HOW A PP IMPELLER WORKS

Converting Rotational Energy into Airflow

The function of an impeller is to create airflow in a centrifugal blower.

Step 1 – Air Enters the Centre

While rotating, the impeller allows air to enter from the centre of the impeller (eye).

Step 2 – Air Accelerates

Through centrifugal force, the impeller’s curved blades accelerate the air moving outward.

This results in:

  • Velocity of air
  • Pressure of air
  • Air flow rate

Step 3 – Air Leaves the Impeller

The accelerated air moves from the outer part of the impeller into the casing of the blower.

Step 4 – Continuous Air Movement

The whole process helps in creating airflow for:

  • Industrial ventilation
  • Fume removal
  • Wet scrubbers
  • Laboratory exhaust
  • Air pollution control

The efficiency of the entire process greatly relies on the design of the impeller.
