Manufactured by Plastic Fabricators
Corrosive gas extraction from reaction vessels, scrubbers, chemical reactors, pickling tanks, and process equipment is often encountered during industrial processes, which demand extraction of corrosive gases continuously. The blowers are operated under such severe conditions, where airflow and static pressure along with reliability are important. Plastic Fabricators produces PVC FRP and FRP Indirect Drive Blowers for exhaust and scrubbing application in corrosive industrial environment. While in case of direct drive blowers, in indirect drive blowers there is provision of V-belt and pulley system through which motor remains protected from corrosive gases but at the same time speed of blower can be controlled as per requirement of process.
Our indirect drive blowers have one piece injection moulded polypropylene impellers which are statically and dynamically balanced to provide smooth operation with reduced vibration and noise. Our blowers having impellers with diameters of 10", 12.5", 15", 17", 21" & 24" are suited for chemical plants, pharmaceutical industry, reaction vessels, scrubbers, electroplating plants etc.
An indirect drive blower refers to a centrifugal blower where the motor is not used to directly rotate the impeller, but rather the rotation occurs due to power transmission via V-belts and pulleys on a separate shaft.
There are two main benefits of using indirect drive blowers.
First, the motor is isolated from the corrosive process gases, hence protecting the motor from aggressive process gases created by industrial processes.
Secondly, the ability to change the pulley diameter enables adjustment of the blower speed, airflow, and static pressure without having to replace the whole blower. Plastic Fabricators manufactures indirect drive blowers for continuous duty operation in applications with reaction vessels, scrubbers, exhaust, and corrosive process ventilation systems.
These types of exhaust systems work 24 hours a day because they deal with corrosive gases produced from the chemical reactions, pickling, scrubbers, and processing equipment. The blower is supposed to produce constant airflow but at the same time be reliable.
In contrast to the direct drive blower, the impeller in the fan is powered via belt & pulley mechanism. This provides several advantages: Adjustable fan speed Flexible air flow adjustment Increased static pressure capacity Easy maintenance Motor placement not subject to corrosion from chemical fumes Change of pulley ratio gives the ability to tune up blower performance without complete blower replacement.
The impeller is molded in one piece by the method of injection molding of polypropylene. The features of each impeller include: Static balance Dynamic balance Lightweight Corrosion resistance Smooth air flow Impellers that are statically balanced reduce vibrations and bearing loads.
The blower housing is made from corrosion resistant PVC/FRP or FRP material. It is thus ideal for conveying: Acid fumes Alkali fumes Humid gases Process chemical exhausts Air discharged from the scrubber
The indirect drive system has a shaft mounted to bearing blocks. This configuration ensures: Rotation stability of the impeller Minimal shaft deflection Smoother operation of the unit Proper power transfer
For various air flow conditions, Plastic Fabricators manufactures blowers with impellers having diameters of: 10 inches 12.5 inches 15 inches 17 inches 21 inches 24 inches The final blower selection depends on airflow (CFM), static pressure, duct resistance, and the connected equipment.
All components are chosen to achieve reliable airflow in the harshest of operating conditions. The indirect drive configuration specifically isolates the motor from the active airstream, providing an extra layer of protection against harsh industrial environments.
The indirect blower housings are made of polypropylene or PVC that are reinforced on the outside with FRP. This robust construction has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, corrosive vapors, and moist process gases, and retains its structural strength over time.
The impeller is a single piece of polypropylene that eliminates potential joints that affect balance and durability. Driven by an indirect belt-and-pulley system to keep the motor safely out of the corrosive air path, each impeller is balanced to reduce vibration, noise, and enhance energy efficiency while increasing the life of the bearings and motor.
Each impeller is balanced statically and dynamically for:
Efficient air flow
Minimum vibration
Low operational noise
Increased energy efficiency
Increased bearing and motor life
Each indirect blower is airflow tested for pressure capacity and static prior to shipment in compliance with IS 4894 to assure reliable field performance.
Plastic Fabricators’ PVC FRP and FRP Indirect Drive Blowers are used in industries where there is the need for fumes extraction and conveying these fumes into pollution control apparatus.
Examples of applications include:
Whether used in a new air pollution control system or replacement of old blowers, these blower systems guarantee you reliable air movement and help protect your motor against corrosive operating conditions.
A well-chosen blower will generate the necessary airflow that will carry the polluted air from the process area to the pollution control equipment.
Step 1 – Fumes Are Captured
Fumes can be extracted from:
Step 2 – Air Enters the Blower
The impeller takes the contaminated air into the blower housing.
With its aerodynamic design, the impeller increases the velocity of the air.
Step 3 – Belt Drive Transfers Power
Instead of the direct drive, the impeller is powered through:
Thus, the motor remains isolated from the harmful fumes, and the blower speed can be changed using the different size pulleys.
Step 4 – Air Moves to the Scrubber or Chimney
The contaminated air coming out of the blower will go through:
and will be discharged into the atmosphere.
Exhaust systems have varying needs with regards to airflow and pressure.
Length of ductwork, number of bends, scrubber pressure loss, fumes from the process, and layout of the system installation all play a role in selecting the right blower.
Plastic Fabricators produces PVC FRP and FRP Indirect Drive Blowers in various capacities and customized designs for industrial uses.
Our blowers are built for constant use in chemical plants, scrubbers, reaction chambers, lab exhausts, and other corrosive atmospheres.

Blowers used in industrial ventilation systems which handle corrosive gases require some additional capabilities compared to simple fixed-speed blowers. Indirect drive system provides these advantages which make it a good choice for variable airflow applications, increased pressure loss and continuous operation.
In the indirect drive system, blower rpm can be varied via a belt-and-pulley drive system. This will allow you to: Tune air flow volume Change static pressure, increase or decrease it Optimise blower operation according to your needs Be ready for future system modification That means you will have fewer difficulties in case of changing your production conditions.
As in the indirect drive system, the motor is located at a distance from the air flow, it ensures: Less motor exposure to corrosive gases Increased motor protection Simplifies maintenance More convenient access to equipment
These blowers are perfect for using in cases when you have: Long ducts Many bends in your ducts Packed-bed scrubbers High-pressure filtration devices Big ventilation systems Because of adjustable operational parameters, they can work effectively with any resistance.
All polypropylene impellers are statically and dynamically balanced before installation. It guarantees you: Low vibrations Less wear of bearings Stable airflow Lower noise Longer equipment lifetime
Manufacturing of good quality ventilation equipment is based on manufacturing control and inspection.
Each unit of blowers is subject to several tests before being dispatched.
The tests include the following:
These tests ensure that the blower is manufactured in accordance with required specifications before installation.
