WHAT ARE PP PALL RINGS & PP TELLERETTE TOWER PACKING?

PP Pall Rings and PP Tellerette Tower Packing are some of the common tower packing media. They are utilized in packed towers in order to maximize the gas-liquid interaction during mass transfer processes in industries. Unlike the tray system, they use thousands of packing pieces in a tower and ensure that there is sufficient area and unobstructed fluid pathways.

Although these two perform similar functions, they have a different geometry.

The PP Pall Ring has a cylindrical geometry which is fitted with windows and support ribs in order to maximize the surface area while preventing any increase in pressure drop.

PP Tellerette Tower Packing has a unique geometry in the shape of a spiral with multiple fingers and curved loops. This improves a very high void fraction along with multi-directional flow which makes them highly efficient in systems that have high gas flow and liquid distribution.

Both products are made from polypropylene and therefore, these are light and resistant to most chemicals.

PP TELLERETTE TOWER

Description

When high gas throughput and effective distribution of liquids are required, PP Tellerette Tower Packing presents another design of random packing.

Tellerette Packing consists of a number of curved loops stacked radially in a spiral arrangement and provides a useful geometry to achieve a large effective surface area with an open structure.

The design encourages multidirectional flow leading to a decreased tendency to form channels in the packed bed and a more even distribution of liquid on the surface of the packing.

Tellerette Packing has a very good reputation of having excellent hydraulic performance and therefore is commonly used in scrubbers and absorption towers in pollution control systems when a low pressure drop and high capacity for treating gas throughput is of importance.
