Why FRP Over Traditional Materials?

🧪
Excellent Corrosion ResistanceUnlike steel which rusts or aluminium which pits, FRP provides excellent corrosion resistance in demanding environments
Non-ConductiveZero electrical conductivity — safe for substations, switchgear, and live electrical environments
⚖️
LightweightRelative weight of 1 vs steel at 4× and aluminium at 1.5× — significantly lower installation labor costs
🔧
Zero MaintenanceNo painting, coating, or galvanizing ever required. Steel needs paint/coating every 2–3 years
☀️
Good UV ResistanceUV stabilized — good performance throughout service life. Wood has poor UV resistance

01
Ladder Side Rail

FRP C-Channel (Ladder Side Rail)

Available Sizes: 80mm × 30mm × 4mm  |  77mm × 30mm × 3mm
DESCRIPTION

C-channel profiles serve as the main side rails for FRP ladders. They carry the full load from the steps to the support points at top and bottom. The C shape provides maximum stiffness with minimum material.

LOAD CAPACITY

The 80mm channel with 4mm wall thickness supports distributed loads up to 150 kg per meter with minimal deflection. Suitable for heavy industrial use with multiple workers.

FEATURES

✓ Consistent internal dimensions for step fitting
✓ Smooth surface, no splinters or burrs
✓ Will not warp or twist after cutting
✓ Resists bending under heavy loads

APPLICATIONS

Vertical fixed ladders | Cage ladders | Platform supports | Cable tray supports | Equipment framing

INSTALLATION NOTES

→ Can be cut with standard carbide-tipped woodworking blades
→ Drill with high-speed steel or carbide bits
→ Fasten with stainless steel or galvanized hardware
→ No pre-drilling required at factory (available on request)

02
Extension Ladder

FRP Extension Ladder C-Channel

Size: 84mm × 30mm × 4mm
DESCRIPTION

Extension ladders require two sections that slide against each other. Standard C-channels have loose tolerances that cause binding or wobbling. Our extension ladder channel is manufactured to tighter internal dimensions for controlled sliding fit.

HOW IT WORKS:

The inner rail (fly section) rides against the outer rail (base section). The resin-rich surface provides natural lubricity. No grease or lubrication needed. The profile maintains its dimensions even after years of sliding.

FEATURES

✓ Precision internal dimensions
✓ Wear-resistant surface
✓ Consistent wall thickness
✓ Compatible with standard rung locks

RUNG LOCK COMPATIBILITY:

The internal profile accepts standard spring-loaded rung locks and locking mechanisms. Locks engage fully with no play.

APPLICATIONS:

Two-section extension ladders | Three-section extension ladders | Telescoping access equipment

03
Step Support

FRP U-Channel (Step Support)

Size: 50mm × 30mm × 3mm
DESCRIPTION

U-channel is used to cradle ladder steps and provide horizontal bracing. The open top accepts the step end, and the vertical legs provide bolt surfaces. Also used as horizontal cross braces to prevent ladder sway.

STEP FIXING:

Steps sit inside the U-channel and are secured with two bolts per end. The channel prevents step rotation and distributes load into the side rail.

BRACING USE:

When used as horizontal bracing, the U-channel resists lateral movement and keeps the ladder square.

FEATURES:

✓ Smooth internal radius (no stress risers)
✓ Uniform 3mm wall thickness
✓ Compatible with 50mm step widths
✓ Can be used as a track for sliding components

INSTALLATION NOTES

Step end supports | Horizontal ladder bracing | Light structural framing | Trim and edging

04
Ladder Tread

FRP Ladder Steps

Size: 75mm (width) × 40mm (depth) × 3mm (wall)
DESCRIPTION

These are the actual treads your crew climbs. The top surface has anti-skid texture molded in during pultrusion. It is not a coating that wears off. The texture runs the full length of the step.

ANTI-SKID PERFORMANCE:

Coefficient of friction:
Dry: 0.8 | Wet: 0.6 | Oily: 0.5
Meets OSHA and international slip-resistance standards.

CONSTRUCTION:

Box section with hollow core. Rigid. No flex when loaded. The hollow design reduces weight while maintaining strength.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:

Resists: Sulfuric acid (10–30%) | Hydrochloric acid | Sodium hydroxide | Organic solvents | Salt water | Chlorine solutions

WEATHER RESISTANCE:

✓ UV stabilized.

✓ No degradation from sunlight.

✓ Withstands freeze-thaw cycles.

APPLICATIONS:

Ladder treads | Walkway grating replacements | Anti-slip surfaces on platforms | Stair treads

05
Standard Rung

FRP Fluted Pipe (Standard Rung)

30mm OD / 24mm ID / 4mm wall  |  49mm OD / 42mm ID / 35mm wall
DESCRIPTION

Round pipe with longitudinal flutes (ribs) on the outside surface. Used for ladder rungs where a round profile is preferred. The flutes provide grip for hands and feet.

FLUTE DETAILS:

→ 6 flutes equally spaced
→ 0.5mm flute depth
→ Runs full length of pipe

GRIP PERFORMANCE:

Fluted surface provides 30% higher slip resistance compared to smooth round pipe.

STRENGTH:

Hoop strength sufficient for standing loads. Longitudinal fibers carry bending loads.

CONNECTION METHODS:

✓ Through-bolted to side rails
✓ Captured in C-channel or U-channel ends
✓ Adhesive bonded (with proper surface preparation)

APPLICATIONS:

Ladder rungs | Handrails | Safety cages | Light structural members

06
Heavy Duty

FRP C-Profile Extension Ladder

84mm × 30mm × 4mm  |  Standard Length: 6 meters  |  Weight: 2.6 kg/m
DESCRIPTION

Reinforced C-profile for extension ladders requiring extra stiffness. The increased web height (85mm vs 84mm) and flange width (35mm vs 30mm) provide higher section modulus for longer ladder reaches.

WHEN TO USE:

→ Ladder extended length over 8 meters
→ Heavy-duty industrial ratings
→ Two-person climbing loads
→ Severe duty cycles

SECTION MODULUS:

30% higher than standard 84×35 extension channel.

FEATURES:

✓ Extra material at flange roots for strength
✓ Precision internal surfaces for sliding
✓ Warp-resistant design
✓ Compatible with standard hardware

APPLICATIONS:

Extra-long extension ladders | Heavy industrial access | Maintenance platforms with extension features

07

SITE GUIDE

Installation Guidelines

FRP profiles work with standard workshop tools. No specialist equipment required on site. Follow these guidelines for clean cuts, accurate drilling, and a square, tight assembly.

01
Cutting
  • Use carbide-tipped blades
  • Woodworking circular saws work well
  • Abrasive cut-off wheels also suitable
  • Support both sides of cut to prevent splintering
02
Drilling
  • Standard HSS or carbide drill bits
  • Back up the material to prevent blowout
  • No pilot hole required for small diameters
  • Use slow to medium drill speeds
03
Fastening
  • Stainless steel (304 or 316) recommended
  • Galvanized steel acceptable
  • Use washers under bolt heads and nuts
  • Do not over-torque (can crush material)
04
Assembly
  • Pre-fit components before final tightening
  • Allow for thermal expansion in long runs
  • Use shims if needed for alignment
  • Check squareness as you assemble
Adhesive Bonding (Optional)
Use epoxy or polyester adhesives
Clean with acetone before bonding
Roughen surfaces for better bond
Clamp until cured
